Hillbilly receipe 'Cattleman's Damper'
Prior to dough-making, prepare your coals for cooking. Lift some coals to the edge and allow to settle. At the same time fill the lid of your Hillbilly cam oven with hot coals. Prepare your ingredients:
3 parts self-raising flour to 1 part full cream powdered milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can of beer
Mix dry ingredients together. Add beer while continuously mixing until a soft bread-like dough forms. Shape into a large ball and place in the well greased camp oven. Place the camp oven amongst the coals [setting the base of the pan approximately 1 inch down into the coals]. Place the coal-filled lid on top of the oven and leave to cook for about 20 minutes, then keep checking progress. Your damper should have a golden brown colour, and should sound hollow when tapped. If not, replace the lid and keep cooking remembering to check from time to time.

The KingCooker for BushKing gas conversion system enables you to use your campoven with the convenience and safety of gas heating in the backyard or in the bush. For soups and stews the gas burner is placed on the ground with the burner facing upwards as shown on the right image with the oven sitting over the flame. When baking the gas burner is placed on the camp oven lid with the burner side facing down to directly heat the oven.

Gas conversion for Bushranger camp oven |

Just like its larger brother, a gas conversion is available for the Bushranger camp oven so that you can also use it in your own backyard or for added convenience while travelling. It enables you to create an effective oven for baking by applying heat to either the top or bottom of your camp oven.
